PAM HOOPER
Facility Administrator

Pam has her BS in Nursing from the University of Arkansas Medical Sciences and is certified as a Nurse Practitioner in the state of Arkansas. Since graduation, Pam has been involved in management of surgical services in both hospitals and surgery centers.

As the former Director of Nursing and Associate Executive Director for Humana Surgical Hospital in Memphis, she was responsible for day-to-day operations of this surgical hospital, as well as corporate CON development and acquisitions. Upon returning to Arkanasas in the early 80's, she worked to develop one of the first freestanding ambulatory surgery centers in the state of Arkansas, Little Rock Surgery Center. Over the past 25 years she has worked in partnership syndication, surgery center development, JCAHO accreditation, along with day-to-day financial and operational responsibilities.

In 1997 Pam, and her partner Mary Hill, established Consultants In Healthcare. A consulting company designed to provide development and management services for inpatient and outpatient surgical services. As a partner with Consultants in Healthcare, she has consulted on numerous surgery center projects and functioned as a Technical Advisor for Cap Gemini-Ernst and Young on various inpatient operational projects.

Since opening in October 1999, Pam has been the Facility Administrator for The Springhill Surgery Center. She is responsible for day-to-day clinical operations, financial management, personnel development, managed care contracting, quality assurance, and regulatory compliance. She also directs the Performance Improvement Committee and functions a Medical Staff liaison.

Pam enjoys traveling, diving, and shopping with her husband, Sanford.

MARY B. HILL
Project/Financial Administrator

Mary received her BS in Nursing from the Medical College of Virginia and brings over 15 years of senior management experience in surgery centers, hospital surgical services and physician practice management. She has coordinated and directed a variety of major surgical departments and has participated in the design and construction of several ambulatory surgery center and hospital projects.

As a co-founder of Consultants In Healthcare in 1997, Mary and her partner Pam Hooper established a company specializing in the development and management of ambulatory surgery centers across the region. The firm also contracts with CapGemini Ernst & Young in their healthcare division Mary is a Technical Advisory and Project Manager providing consulting services for operational assessments and recommendations for surgical services across the country.

Mary enjoys playing golf and snow skiing with her husband and daughter, Howell and Jennifer.

LAURA GUSEWELLE
Clinical Manager

Laura is a graduate of El Centro College in Dallas, Texas with over 17 years of OR experience. Following graduation, Laura completed an OR internship program for registered nurses at Baylor University Med Center, Where she received comprehensive training and experience in all areas of the operating room. For the next five years she worked at Baylor University Hospital where she was Assistant Supervisor of a 22 operating room suite. In this position she functioned as the department's nurse educator responsible for staff development and process review. Following a transfer to Oklahoma City with her husband, Laura worked at Mercy Health Center, supervising 12 operating rooms and the unit's PACU department. Curing her five years at Mercy Health Center she was also responsible for a large orthopedic service and achieved her CRNFA certification. Over the next four years, while traveling with her husband and family, Laura worked on the heart teams in Louisville, Kentucky, Columbus, Ohio and Little Rock, Arkansas.

In 1998 Laura accepted a Charge Nurse position at the Surgical Pavilion in Little Rock, Arkansas, an ambulatory surgery center joint venture with Baptist Health. In this position she was instrumental in assisting the Clinical Manager with opening of the facility in early 1999, and development of the Center's pharmacy and inventory control system. For over three years she was responsible for staffing, orientation and training, preference card maintenance, scheduling and general administrative duties in the absence of the Clinical Manager. In January 2001, Laura accepted the position of Clinical Manager of her own outpatient surgery facility at Springhill Surgery Center in North Little Rock, Arkansas.

In her free time, Laura enjoys gardening, swimming, and boating with her husband and two children.

GRETCHEN MARCHESE
Financial Manager

Gretchen has been working in the healthcare industry for over 17 years, beginning her career with the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. She attended AAPC Certified Professional Coding School and achieved certification in 2001.

With 12 years of medical management experience, Gretchen is well rounded in the area of business operations associated with this field. In her role as Financial Manager, Gretchen is responsible for overseeing all aspects of Patient Accounts including maintenance of a charge master, managed care contracting, billing, and accounts receivable. She is likewise responsible for accounts payable and works with Administration in production and analysis of the center’s monthly financials. She is active in all areas of cost containment and is responsible for forecasting and reporting annual financial projections. Personnel management and general maintenance of the Springhill Surgery Center are some of her other responsibilities.

In her free time, Gretchen enjoys boating and spending time with her husband, Vince, and her children.
